The Small & Rural Law Enforcement Executives Association (SRLEEA) is pleased to honor the achievement of individual members and organizations from small, rural, and tribal agencies for their contributions to their communities and the law enforcement profession.

Nominate one of your colleagues or your agency for an SRLEEA award. If you are hesitating due to the challenge of assembling the nomination materials, please don’t; the process is simple!

AWARDS

2022 Executive of the Year Award (3 Awards)

Sheriff 
Police Chief 
Tribal Police Chief

Nominee must be the chief executive of a small, rural, and tribal agency as defined by SRLEEA (definition). He/she may be nominated for a single outstanding achievement, or for long-term exceptional performance in the law enforcement profession and their agency.

2022 Officer of the Year Award (3 Awards)

Rural Agency
Small Agency
Tribal Agency

Nominee must be serving in a small, rural, and tribal agency as defined by SRLEEA (definition). He/she may be nominated for a single outstanding achievement, act of bravery, or for long-term exceptional performance in the law enforcement profession.

2022 Correctional Officer of the Year

Nominee must be serving in a small, rural, and tribal agency as defined by SRLEEA (definition), and must be serving as a Correctional Officer (sworn or non-sworn) within the agency. He/she may be nominated for a single outstanding achievement, act of bravery, or for long-term exceptional performance in the correctional profession.

2022 Humane Law Enforcement Officer of the Year

Nominee must be serving in aa small, rural, and tribal agency as defined by SRLEEA (definition), and must be serving as a Humane Law Enforcement Officer (sworn or non-sworn) within the agency. He/she may be nominated for a single outstanding achievement, act of bravery, or for long-term exceptional performance in the animal services profession.

2022 Civilian of the Year

Nominee must be serving in a small, rural, and tribal agency as defined by SRLEEA (definition), and must be serving as a non-sworn staff member within the agency. He/she may be nominated for a single outstanding achievement in law enforcement, or for long-term exceptional performance in the agency.

2022 Volunteer/Reserve Officer of the Year

Recipients must be serving in a small, rural, and tribal agency as defined by SRLEEA (definition), and cannot be employed with the agency full-time or part-time with pay, but serves in a volunteer/reserve capacity within the agency. He/she will have demonstrated exceptional dedication or performed outstanding work far beyond the requirements of the volunteer position.

2022 Advocate of the Year Award (2 awards)

Advocate in Government Affairs – Many non-law enforcement individuals & organizations are actively building relationships with and educating elected officials on issues important to small, rural, and tribal law enforcement agencies. Because many of our initiatives depend on action by these legislative bodies, we want to recognize these efforts of outstanding SRLEEA advocate who consistently promote SRLEEA issues.

Advocate of Small Rural & Tribal Law Enforcement – This Award is given to an individual or organization not directly in law enforcement, but who has shown an exceptional awareness in law enforcement issues that face small, rural and tribal agencies. The recipient will be recognized as a “friend” of law enforcement, for contributions and outstanding action that has assisted SRLEEA or a member’s agency in furthering the positive image of small, rural or tribal law enforcement.

This Award is given to a small, rural, and tribal agency as defined by SRLEEA (definition), that has provided innovative service to their community. Areas considered – public education programs, active community involvement, and officer development.

The 2022 Distinguished State Law Enforcement Association Award (2 Awards)

Police Chief’s Association
Sheriffs’ Association

This Award recognizes a State Police Chiefs’ Association and State Sheriffs’ Association that has made a high-level contribution or commitment to the success and or professionalism of law enforcement agencies in small, rural, or tribal communities within their state. Factors considered in granting this Award include programs or initiatives that target and or improved the quality of law enforcement within small, rural or tribal agencies.
